What Your Heart Is Thinking: Reflections On The Essence Of Feng Shui And
Vastu Shastra

To write about the essence of Chinese feng shui or Indian vastu shastra
seems to be quite a challenge. After all, aren’t there a lot of books
dealing with almost every aspect of these ancient arts? There is an
abundance of titles on feng shui, as well as vastu shastra, for love, for
health, for romance, for career, for prosperity, for children, for
success, etc; as well as an endless list of cures that are supposed to fix
it all for you. All you have to do is find the time, the money and the
right person to implement the long list of cures so that you can become
the healthy, prosperous and eternally in romantic love person you always
wanted to be.
It seems like we have adjusted these ancient arts to fit our western
“fast and easy, well paid for” solutions that should work right away.
And without much effort from our part. Neither feng shui, nor vastu
shastra, can truly work this way. Both of them are extremely complex
bodies of knowledge, quite similar in their teachings, and are certainly
not to be learned from reading a book or two.
However, first and foremost, they are very powerful healing tools to help
you progress on your path, realize who you are and explore the amazing
potential you posses as a human being. The accent, if you noticed, is as
much on your dwellings, as it is on you.
The amazing power of feng shui and vastu shastra comes into place when you
realize that your house is your energetic continuation, it carries in its
blueprint the karmic lessons you have to learn. Humans look for houses to
manifest their deep emotional needs, and by learning to read the messages
of your environment, you can accelerate tremendously your journey to
healing. Housed can be some of the great teachers around and we have to
re-learn how to respect, love and communicate with our dwellings.
As complicated as it may sound, the initial steps to re-awaken this
connection are quite basic and simple. I will define them in three A’s
– Awareness, Acceptance and Action.
AWARENESS that everything around you is composed of ever-changing energy
and has its own consciousness. You are not separate from the world around
you, and you are constantly exchanging energy with your environment.
ACCEPTANCE that no matter how “bad” things may look right now, they
are exactly as they should be. There is a deep reason and there is no use
in fighting against it. Accept your situation, no matter how it looks
like.
If you truthfully went through the second step of acceptance and are
really committed to changing your life, the third step – ACTION - comes
almost immediately. It may be the decision to de-clutter your place,
re-arrange the furniture or may be even move to a new home. The root of
any successful action, however, will be in a deep decision to be aware and
take responsibility for every singe action you take from now on.
Let your inner guidance tell you what changes need to be done. Do not
accept every cure as a magical tool to let your dreams happen. Feng shui
cures are actually more of a tool to hold your intent. You program them to
hold a specific energy for you, while you go on with your many daily
activities. When your intent is strong enough, you may not need any cures,
or “props” to hold it in place.
Explore the symbology of your home and remember that everything around you
is a reflection of yourself, your inner state of consciousness. Touch and
acknowledge every single object in your home. Do you love it? Where does
it come from? What meaning does it have for you? Establish a relationship
with every object you own, as well as with your house.
Homes, just as people, are nourished by how we hold them in our heart. A
house is an evolving being and it has its own cycles, just like you and
all nature goes through cycles. Communicate with your home. Make it your
ally, instead of your adversary.
There are no tools to guide you in this process other than opening your
heart and trusting the inner messages. Your heart has access to a much
deeper body of knowledge than you mind can ever access. Start thinking
with your heart. At every given moment, the universe is whispering
messages to you and you have to learn to read them.
What the ancients ones were telling us through the languages of feng shui
and vastu shastra is that we should strive to achieve the maximum benefits
of the outer, larger universe in our small, individual ones, in order to
thrive. And as Love is the most powerful energy in this universe, the
first and very important question to ask yourself about your surrounding
is how much Love you feel in it. As simple as that.
By gently embracing the wisdom of these ancient teachings, as well as
trusting your inner messages, you can awaken that magical power in you
that orchestrates the external events. You can finally realize the simple
truth that the old ones have been telling us for centuries: the power and
the source of everything is inside of you. The outside is just a
reflection. It certainly can help you understand the source. However,
wouldn’t you rather go directly to the source?
