Sense
of Gratitude: One Woman's Prayer of Appreciation
NEW!
by Marlene Buffa
Every morning, I take a walk for a half hour. I usually follow the same
route through my neighborhood and greet the same neighbors and dogs on
their daily ritual, as well. I use my walk as a time of reflection and
preparation for my day. I honor myself with time for prayer and gratitude
so that my day begins with a focus and perspective which serves to buoy my
spirit in the sea of rough water and tides of daily life. Rarely do I make
frivolous requests of spirit, or even ask for guidance. Rather, I begin my
day with gratitude by recounting all my blessings and inviting more good
into my life.
Vision
Thank you God for my eyes. Let them remain clear and my sight true. I'm
grateful that I see the full colors of springtime, the smiles of those
people I encounter in my life and the panorama of this beautiful country.
Also God, thank you for my vision. Beyond my physical sight, I thank you
for my spiritual sight. I'm grateful for my ability to imagine and to see
in my mind, all the things possible and not yet manifested; all the work I
want to accomplish and all the abundance this life offers me. I'm grateful
I can see-through misperceptions as well as take note of joy in
observation. Thank you God for my optimism and strength and the natural
inclination to see the half-full glass and know that life always works
out.

Love's Simple

Love is the order of the universe and we are its atoms.
It is the ocean and we are its drops…
Through love the heavens are brilliant;
Without love even suns and moons are eclipsed
Wherever and whenever people meet, it is never long before love and relationships – their problems and confusions, their bliss and beauty - is discussed.

The human body is sustained by life force energy. This energy appears to
travel through Meridian pathways inside the physical body and feed all the
main organs, glands and ultimately every muscle, nerve, tissue and cell.
We are all about energy. Energy goes by many different names but it
remains the universal life-force sea in which we exist and of which we are
a part. In Japan it is called Ki, in India the life-force energy is called
prana. It’s Qi (Chi) in China.

Struggling To Forgive the Unforgivable
by Immaculée Ilibagiza
I was deep in prayer when the killers came
to search the house a second time.
It was past noon, and I’d been praying the rosary since dawn for God to
give His love and forgiveness to all the sinners in the world. But try as
I might, I couldn’t bring myself to pray for the killers. That was a
problem for me because I knew that God expected us to pray for everyone,
and more than anything, I wanted God on my side.

How our households tend to accumulate junk is a sad indicator of the

Effectively
Working with Affirmations
by Katheryn Hoban
In my years of teaching and counseling I have come to the conclusion that
many people are unsure of what affirmations are, how to use them, what
great tools they can be, or what good benefits can be manifested by
working with affirmations in both children and adults. In the simplest
form an affirmation is a statement of a positive effect, result, or of a
future event that you would like to achieve. Usually an affirmation is
stated in the present moment and in positive verbiage and wordage. For an
example “ I can do this” as opposed to “I’d like to do this” or
“I’m going to do this.” The sentence “ I can do this” is set in
the present moment and it implies confidence in one’s ability to
accomplish the task and an immediacy to take action. The statement “
I’d like to do this.” Implies that it is not quite possible but you
are yearning to do it but (something out of your control) is preventing
that. “I’m going to do this” implies sometime in the future
when all the conditions are right. In that case we can make an assumption
that the conditions will never be right.

What Is A Power Song

by Shaman Elder Maggie Wahls
Power Songs are oral prayers expressing your true self, your nature, your
individuality, your power. All cultures have power songs but you can have
your own power song too. We think of the power in a hymn or an African
chant, a Shamanic ceremony song or even in the howling of wolf. And there
is definite power in sound.

Prayer connects us to the invisible

Angel

by Skye Thomas
Years ago, my minister spoke to us about how you could solicit the help of
your guardian angels to help with conflict resolution. She told us stories
about how she and others had successfully asked their guardian angels to
speak to the enemy's guardian angel. The idea being that when you find
yourself in an argumentative situation with someone, that you could
request that your guardian angel talk angel to angel with their guardian
angel about finding a win-win situation. She gave us examples of times
when after asking for the angels to help mediate the problem, that the
other party suddenly softened and the solutions began to easily show
themselves. As she told the stories of her successes with this approach to
problem solving, I began to think about how to use it in my own life.

Peace on Earth
by Chrissie Blaze
Leo Tolstoy led us to believe with his great classic "War and
Peace" that peace is absence of war, and that war is a natural state.
We cannot blame Tolstoy, who described the human condition brilliantly,
with his panoramic study of early 19th Century Russian Society. He was a
storyteller who understood deeply the human condition and from his keen
perception extrapolated a theory of historical determinism. Avid readers
of "War and Peace" as I am (three times no less, I must confess)
will see that the novel lays out a theory of history that states that
there is a minimum of free choice. That war follows peace just as surely
as night follows day.

The Subconscious Mind, Prayer and

The main impediment in the way of any prayer is too much intellect and too

does happen--it is what we believe to be true of ourselves and others deep
in our subconscious mind.

It’s A Miracle!
by Nancy Hassett Dahm
Miracles happen every day to ordinary
people living ordinary lives. So why don’t we hear more about these
incredible events? Perhaps people want to keep secret what is most
precious and private to them. Or perhaps there is a fear of being called a
zealot, and therefore not to be taken seriously. Or maybe as a society, we
have “outgrown” our sensitivity to things beyond our understanding and
control. Whatever the reasons for not revealing what would be considered
by many to be miracles—we should reconsider and tell all. Why? We should
reveal miracles in order to keep hope alive, to keep faith alive, and to
keep the belief in possibilities alive.

A Gratitude Poem For Mattie Stepanek

The tenderness of a child.
Thank you for your compassion...
The caring of a teacher,
The patience of a priest,
The enthusiasm of a child.
Thank you for your positive outlook...
The vision of a leader,
The coach of life,
The exuberance of a child.
Thank you Mattie.
Your purpose was divine.
Your message was clear.
All we have to do,
is look in our spiritual mirror.

"ANGELS IN THE
ALLEY"
As she walked along under
the tall elm trees, Diane asked "God" to keep her safe from harm
and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her
house, she decided to take it, however, halfway down the alley she noticed
a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She
became uneasy and began to pray, asking for "God's" protection.
Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped
around her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she
reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man
and arrived home safely.
The following day, she
read in the newspaper that a young girl had been raped in the same alley,
just twenty minutes after she had been there. Feeling overwhelmed by this
tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep.
Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided
to go to the police station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she
told them her story.
The police asked her if
she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him.
She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley
the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he
immediately broke down and confessed.
The officer thanked Diane
for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her.
She asked if they would ask the man one question. Diane was
curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked
him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall
men walking on either side of her."

A Prayer For Health
by Eeta Sachon
I ask in the name of the I AM Presence
For the help of my Higher Self, Angels,
Guides, and the Highest Teachers to heal my body, Now.
Please help me to remember I am already
whole.
As a child of God, it is my birthright.
How could I be "less than?"
Mighty currents of God's healing Light are
Radiating through every cell of my body,
Healing and restoring me. This radiant
Light awakens the divinity within each cell.
My entire body vibrates with the energy of Life.
I now fully relax in the knowledge that
Love dissolves everything unlike itself.
I expect only good in my life and give thanks.
And so it is... Amen

Prayer For Work & Love
by Eeta Sachon
Dear Spirit, please help me to remember
Who I AM and to see my "real job" today.
Help me to live my life for the highest good
By loving myself unconditionally
As you love me.
And when I truly heal and love myself -
Then, and only then, am I able to love another.
Help me to see the "Light" in
others
When they have forgotten it, themselves.
And to help them, as guided,
To empower themselves.
I humbly give thanks for your help
In all aspects of my life.
And I know that everything is in Divine Order.
And so it is... Amen

Mental energy is the basic foundation of
success. Look at corporate titans such as Michael Eisner, Martha Stewart,
and Jack Welch, or world leaders such as Nelson Mandela, Tony Blair, and
Margaret Thatcher, or super moms from Maria Von Trapp to Barbara Bush.
High mental energy is what they all have or had in common. Mental energy
is the brain's power supply -- the more power you have, the longer and
harder you can work. Compare your work output the morning after taking a
red-eye to that after a refreshing night's sleep. It's brain energy that
makes the difference.
