Naturally
Healthy With Herbs
by Linda Richardson, Nurse
/ Herbalist
Good health comes from good food, from
adequate exercise, and from giving special attention to particular areas
of concern. Herbs, when used judiciously and properly, bring new health to
the lives of many people. Their value as a medicine has been known for
centuries. Herbal remedies were the natural drug used to cure various
ailments of long ago. King Solomon used herbs. In fact, common reference's
to herbs throughout the Bible indicate chat herbs were used by Lings and
commoners alike. People have been using natural remedies for thousands of
years to treat and treat successfully a wide variety of ills from
heartburn to heart disease.
Until World War 2, herbal medications were
listed side by side with chemical drugs in the U.S. Pharmacopoeia, the
official listing of accepted medicines. Even today, fifty percent of the
thousands of drugs commonly used and prescribed are either derived from a
plant source or contain chemical or synthetic imitations of a plant
compound. Herbs are a natural substance and cannot be patented.
More and more people rely on Mother Earth
to provide the materials necessary to treat their ailments. Herbs are a
natural means of providing the body with essential nutrients to aid in the
healing process. They are the only plants on earth that can penetrate
through the cell membrane and start to activate and support the body's own
self healing powers. Herbs really do work. They feed, regulate and cleanse
the body naturally. They give the body the raw materials it needs to do
it's own healing. They do not build up in the body or produce harmful side
effects like synthetic drugs and supplements. They are the key to losing
weight naturally and improving your health. Herbs are available in many
forms including teas, ointments, compresses, extracts, oils, poultice,
powders, salves, syrups and tinctures. Be aware of tablet forms. They can
and do have fillers and binders in them. I prefer my herbs to be in a cold
press natural gelatin capsule that will dissolve and absorb better into
the blood stream much faster. When you are buying your herbs there are
questions that you should ask yourself.
No. 1: Are they natural and holistic.
No. 2: Are they organically grown and not exposed to chemicals and
pesticides.
No. 3: Does the herbal product have the most nutritious part of the plant
and not just arieal parts thrown in it.
No. 4: Is it high in quality and potency.
No. 5: Look at the label to see if it lists ingredients and suggested use.
No. 6: Is it high in milligrams.
No. 7: Expiration Date, shelf life: 3 years if kept tightly closed.
No. 8: Quality guaranteed should have 60-90 days money back guarantee.
Perhaps the "Fountain of Youth"
is at our fingertips for the convenience of those of us who are wise
enough to take advantage of the circumstances.
Health Tips; Try to allow yourself to
recharge your body. Relax and drink some herbal tea.
